I’ve yet to find a location to hang the Doorknob from Alice in Wonderland that wifey gave me a few years back for Christmas. Maybe I can put it in my office somewhere, or just hold off and find a spot on a shelf for it. Nonetheless, it is an awesome piece of “art”, and very limited (only 1,000 made).

If you hadn’t noticed, I haven’t been out taking pictures much. I’m recycling some older pictures to fill up my Project 365 posts, but at least something is being put up! This one is from our Austin, TX trip this past fall to see UCLA v Texas. We showed up WAY to early on gameday, and walked down to 6th Street where the Pecan Festival was ongoing. None of the bars were open it was so early, so we strolled around for a bit until about 11AM when stuff started opening up. Can’t remember the name of this bar, but they had a dancing Elvis on the wall, and every NCAA football you could ever want to watch on.

Another day, another Coachella sunset. This one is from 2002, after watching Belle & Sebastian perform a sunset set. There really isn’t anything like a Coachella sunset/sunrise. I’ve experience three Coachella sunsets (2002-2004) and one Nocturnal Wonderland sunrise (2001), and each one was spectacular in it’s own way.

Since I’m still bummed about the dates of Coachella, I figured I’d dig into my photo vault and put up my favorite picture from the last Coachella I attended (way back in 2004!) Here’s to hoping those who attend this year get to experience the great sunsets that the Empire Polo Fields produce.

Really Coachella? Not only did you announce your best lineup in years (see below), but it just HAS to be on April 15, 16, and 17 this year? Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, except for ‘Emancipation Day’ is celebrated on April 16th in Washington, D.C. Since April 16th is on a Saturday, the “holiday” is being celebrated on Friday, April 15th. Because it is being celebrated on April 15th, no tax returns are due on April 15th like normal; instead, the due date is being pushed back until Monday, April 18th. Alas, I now have to work the weekend of Coachella, and subsequently cannot attend. Damn you Coachella! (I have discovered the real culprit here is Stagecoach, which is held the week after Coachella and, since it started three years ago, has pushed Coachella up a week every year. So damn you Stagecoach too!)

Happy MLK Day to all, especially those who had a nice day off of work. Unfortunately, we don’t get MLK Day off at my work, mainly because it falls in mid-January and that is a hectic time of the month in my office (we get our own birthday off instead). So those of us who work and get home late get to take photos like this one. I was running back and forth between our living room and bedroom and wanted to see how good the HDR mode on the iPhone worked. Not bad…turned a blueish night light into a bright white glow, though the noise of the high ISO is quite evident. I’m hoping to get out with the T1i this weekend, if the wifey lets it out of her grip that is.

Figured this project wouldn’t be a full 365 posts, but I’m doing what I can to keep up! I was at Fry’s Electronics this evening during a great sunset. I could only catch a photo heading east, but the sky was a pinkish hue with the moon just beginning to light up.

I had a feeling this project wouldn’t be a full 365 photos when I started! And this photo should explain the reason why. I received verification today that my CPA application was accepted by the California Board of Accountancy. We are just beginning the tip of tax season, and things are already getting crazy at work. I will do my best to stay up with this project; maybe I’ll have to tax a few extra photos on the weekends and hold them back until mid-week? We’ll have to see.
