Major thanks to the Dev Team for releasing Pwnage 2.0 (ahead of schedule even?)  I was out and about until just before 4PM this afternoon.  I checked my Google Reader RSS feeds and saw the Dev Team’s post suggesting that Pwnage was going to come out Sunday.  I was excited needless to say.  About 10 minutes later I saw that there was a new post on the Dev Team website, with a download link to Pwnage 2.0.  By the time I saw it, the site was being overloaded.  I looked through the comments and found a Rapidshare link, downloaded the file and was off.

I had to upgrade to iTunes 7.7, then download the new 2.0 firmware through iTunes.  I was then asked to find bootloader 3.9 and 4.6 files, which I found via hackint0sh and/or iClarified.  I was finally ready to run Pwnage.  (Tips for anybody else doing this:  when asked if you’re a legit iPhone user, select NO [selecting yes will not run BootNeuter and therefore not unlock the phone]; when asked if you’ve Pwned before, select YES and then Option-Restore the newly created IPSW file via iTunes)

After about 30 minutes (I incorrectly answered the two questions I mention above, so I had to do everything twice) the entire process was complete and I was in AppStore heaven.  There is a LOT on the AppStore right now, but most of it looks like crap to me.  I replaced most of the WebApps I had with new AppStore Applications (i.e. FaceBook, eBay) and replaced Twinkle from Installer with the AppStore version.  Currently firmware 2.0 does not accept Installer at this point, and Cydia is very bare, so AppStore seems to be the only option for applications at this point.

One other suggestion for those unlocking your phones:  the T-Zones Hack still works!  I installed OpenSSH from Cydia, reverified the SSH key via Terminal and re-uploaded the proxy.pac file to private/var/preferences and was able to use EDGE with no problems (still slow as can be).  The key is to restore a backup of your iPhone after upgraded/restoring to 2.0.  When you restore rather than starting over, iTunes re-uploads your previously modified network preferences.plist file, which references the proxy.pac file.
